Black Tower Studios Announced as New Developer for ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’

Back on Friday, Gun Interactive announced the impending farewell of Sumo Nottingham, the original developer for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Obviously, fans were worried who was going to pick up development of the asymmetrical multiplayer game. We now have our answer in the form of Black Tower Studios.

Friday The 13th: The Game players will be familiar with Black Tower Studios, as the Japanese developer took over development duties on Friday The 13th: The Game from IllFonic back in 2018. Their work included the Jarvis House and Pinehurst maps for that game, as well as provided support. Both of the teams at Sumo Nottingham and Gun Interactive are currently on-boarding Black Tower Studios to the project over the course of the next month. After which, Black Tower Studios will be working on the future DLC content for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

As mentioned, Gun Interactive and Black Tower Studios have had previous history with co-development. In addition to Friday The 13th: The Game, Black Tower Studios has had a hand working on titles such as Predator Hunting Grounds, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.

The press release also mentions that a number of other partners will be joining forces with Gun, including Art Bully Productions for future cosmetics for all characters, Testronic Labs on QA testing, Saturday Morning Cereal for all game trailers and assisting in in-game cinematics, and Odd Gentleman, the studio behind Museum Mode as well as possible future modes.

Speaking of the future, Gun’s Wes Keltner dropped a tease about the future TCM DLC, which includes “past December 2024“. Speculate away.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is out now on PC via Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
